Analyst Views: What did you make of French Connection’s financial results?
FREDDIE GEORGE | CANTOR FITZGERALD
The interim results for six months ended 31 July were broadly in-line with expectation. Pre-tax losses declined from £6.3m to £6.1m on sales down 6.4 per cent to £89.9m. The company has also announced several store closures in the UK. We maintain our “hold” recommendation.
NICK BUBB | INDEPENDENT RETAIL ANALYST
Despite much talk about a turnaround, these interims from the struggling French Connection show hardly any improvement in the overall £6m loss and the core retail division again went backwards in like-for-like sales terms. The only saving grace is the continuing strong cash position.
ANDREW WADE | NUMIS
The initiatives undertaken in the UK retail business are sensible and should be reflected in the quality of range planning and architecture, the brand perception and profitability. We believe that French Connection remains a brand with global appeal and is now moving in the right direction.
