Analyst Views: What did you make of BT’s second quarter financial results?
JERRY DELLIS | JEFFERIES
Unchanged outlook suggests new chief executive plans an evolutionary approach. Early impact from BT Sport is encouraging. Consumer line loss reduced more sharply than expected, retail broadband net adds nearly double the second quarter last year.
ROBIN BIENENSTOCK | BERNSTEIN
These are the first set of results presided over by new chief executive Gavin Patterson, and he will be hoping that this very solid set of results can be replicated again and again… We think the bears will struggle to find fault in results that were strong across the board.
STEPHANE BEYAZIAN | RAYMOND JAMES
Our outperform rating is based on our view that the launch of BT Sports has the potential to positively surprise by expanding BT’s broadband market share (93 per cent market share of net additions), and the company’s focus on cost cutting should more than offset the additional content costs.
