ANALYST VIEWS: IS CINEWORLD COPING WELL IN THE TOUGH MARKET?
GEETANJALI SHARMA | ESPIRITO SANTO
This is a very encouraging set of results from Cineworld. It is encouraging to note that despite Avatar and Alice in Wonderland being in the first half 2010 comparatives and Harry Potter not included in first half 2011, Cineworld’s admissions are up 2.2 per cent year on year.
NIGEL PARSON | EVOLUTION
The company is up against tough comparatives. Strategically, the digital roll-out continues well (70 per cent complete by year end), and it has refinanced successfully. We reiterate our buy recommendation and 245p target price; the stock remains excellent value.
WAYNE BROWN | COLLINS STEWART
There’s an element of resilience in the business model itself here. Cinema-going is a very resilient recession activity. And the first half hasn’t really had any blockbusters. One thing that separates Cineworld from Vue and Odeon is that it does have a much wider audience, driving its market-share.
