Amazon joins Bango in vague new agreement
TECHNOLOGY provider Bango has agreed to provide services to internet retail giant Amazon but refused to elaborate further.
The Aim-listed mobile phone payments company said in a statement: “The terms of this agreement are not being disclosed.
“The Board believes it is too early in the relationship to accurately forecast the level of business which it may generate.”
This follows news in recent weeks that Bango, which is based in Cambridge, was close to signing up a third major customer for its mobile billing services, which allow users to pay for purchases on their mobile phone bills.
If this is the deal behind the vague statement, e-commerce company Amazon will be joining Research in Motion and Opera Software on Bango’s client list.
The speculation circulating is that Bango could be providing mobile billing services for the Amazon App Store for Android which was launched in the US in March and features prominently on the Kindle Fire, which operates using Android.
Shares spiked 11 per cent from 62p to 70p on release of the statement yesterday, closing at 69p.
