Aguero ends goal drought in City stroll
STRIKER Sergio Aguero scored his first goals for more than two months as Manchester City ended their five-game winless streak to keep the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea last night.
Midfielders James Milner and Samir Nasri also struck as City beat Stoke 4-1 at the Britannia Stadium to record their first top-flight victory since New Year’s Day. Former England striker Peter Crouch briefly equalised for the hosts.
Aguero took his tally for the season to 21 first by running onto Milner’s long pass and finding the bottom corner, then by converting a penalty following a foul on David Silva.
Champions City remain seven points behind Chelsea and five ahead of neighbours Manchester United, who answered their critics with a 3-1 triumph over Burnley at Old Trafford.
England defender Chris Smalling scored twice for United, either side of in-form striker Danny Ings’ fifth goal in six league games for Burnley, and forward Robin van Persie completed the win with a late penalty.
Second-half goals from strike pair Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino helped West Brom climb four points clear of the relegation zoneby beating Swansea 2-0.
