After a Sevenoaks estate agent underestimates the journey to London Bridge, an Essex commuter hits out at Mullucks Wells
Last week, we reported that a letting agent in Kent had made a slight overstatement when it claimed Sevenoaks commuters can get from one of its luxury new-builds to London Bridge in under half an hour.
Days later, a reader got in touch to expose an even bolder claim made by Mullucks Wells. The Essex-based estate agent sent an advert to our man last week promoting an apartment building in Epping, which it claims is "just 25 minutes from London".
A cursory glance at Google Maps tells us that it takes around 40 minutes to get from Epping station to Liverpool Street.
Our disgruntled property boss points out: "25 minutes gets you to Leytonstone without allowing for walking to the station and waiting for the train to leave".
Surely, then, Mullucks Wells is technically correct?
The tipster, who's been dealing in commercial property for almost 20 years, added: "If you say you're commutable to London, it has to mean zone one. Why would you be living in a commuter town if you only need to get to Leytonstone?" Point taken.
