ADVISERS GKN’S PURCHASE OF VOLVO AERO
TIMOTHY Shacklock is leading the team at Gleacher Shacklock that advised GKN, alongside joint adviser and joint bookrunner UBS.
Shacklock, the former deputy chairman of Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, founded Gleacher Shacklock in 2003. He has advised on a number of Europe’s most prominent corporate finance transactions, including the reorganisation of British Aerospace in the 1990s, culminating in the £7.7bn acquisition of GEC’s defence business.
He also worked on the £19bn sale of Orange to Mannesmann and its subsequent £27bn onward sale to France Telecom, and the defence of NatWest against the offers from both Bank of Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland. At Gleacher Shacklock, he has advised BAE Systems on the $4.2bn acquisition of United Defense Industries, the manufacturer of the Bradley combat vehicle, and on the €2.75bn sale of its 20 per cent shareholding in Airbus.
He also worked with Cable & Wireless on its £700m acquisition of Energis. He qualified as a chartered accountant and became a partner in Pannell Kerr Forster in London prior to joining Kleinwort Benson, the predecessor firm to Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, in 1988.
