Activists’ new legal fight
PROTESTERS who have taken over a disused London courthouse are expected to fight an eviction attempt today.
The activists, who claimed Old Street Magistrates’ Court as the fourth Occupy site in the week before Christmas, will appear at Clerkenwell and Shoreditch County Court.
Last night they said in a statement: “Mastcraft Ltd, owners of the Grade II listed building since 2006 without moving forward with any development plans, are seeking an interim possession order.”
The group has renamed the building Occupy Justice and pledged to hold symbolic “trials of the one per cent”, including bankers and politicians it blames for the financial crisis.
Mastcraft could not be reached for comment last night.
