Jerome Valcke: Swiss authorities get access to Fifa secretary’s emails
Swiss investigators were granted access to the e-mails of suspended general secretary Jerome Valcke by embattled world governing body Fifa yesterday.
Valcke, outgoing president Sepp Blatter’s right-hand man, was last week relieved of his duties at Fifa pending an investigation into his involvement in a World Cup tickets scheme. It has been alleged that Valcke, who has been in his role at Fifa since 2007, was implicated in selling World Cup tickets above their market value.
The office of Switzerland’s attorney general has confirmed that Valcke’s e-mails since May 2015 have been handed over, while access is also to be given to older correspondence sent by the 54-year-old. Fifa has been engulfed by claims of corruption since May when Swiss police raided a Zurich hotel and arrested seven executives.
