AA plans India roadside unit
INDIA’S iconic tuk-tuks will not be covered by AA’s roadside assistance joint venture planned for the sub-continent, it announced yesterday.
In return for £4m, the AA will hold 49 per cent of a unit with TVS Automobile Solutions, to target the growing demand for roadside assistance – driven by growing car sales. India’s much-loved scooters will also be covered.
Car sales in India are forecast to triple in the next five years and the venture will first target Chennai.
