A teenager has just become a mayor in the UK town of Goole
A teenager, who missed out on a party when he received his A-levels last year, has been elected as a mayor in the UK.
Terence Smith, a 19-year-old Labour councillor has been voted in for a 12-month term at the council's annual meeting today.
He said: "I feel like I'm giving my bit back to the community."
Smith has been elected as mayor of Goole, Yorkshire, after having previously been the council's deputy mayor. The council looks after near 18,500 people.
Deputy Labour leader Tom Watson was happy to hear the news, posting on Twitter: "Well done to my Pal Terence Smith – the youngest mayor in the world (probably)."

"When the A-level results came out last year, my friends were out partying. I was in a council meeting," Smith added.
The election may be following a theme after SNP MP Mhairi Black was elected to Westminster at the age of 20.
