Confidence up for City employees
CITY professionals are increasingly confident of their job security, according to a survey published by executive search consultancy GRS yesterday.
During May and June, 42.75 per cent of 3,000 respondents said they believed they would be more secure in their jobs in the next three months, up two per cent since earlier in the year and the highest so far in 2009.
“This is excellent news,” said GRS managing director Lucinda Brown. “We are seeing the market improve in line with Confederation of British Industry predictions of a slowing of negative growth.”
The respondents were largely from London and specialised in risk management, compliance, audit, insurance, tax and legal services.
“While this month-on-month improvement may seem modest, the importance cannot be underestimated,” said GRS chief executive Ken Brotherson. “With so much conflicting data surrounding ‘green shoots’ in the economy, this poll stands out as one of the sources able to look forward in assessing market conditions and still turn up positive results.”
