9/2 Nacarat value to upset Gold Cup winner
THE Cheltenham Gold Cup winner and the World Hurdle winner are both in action as Aintree’s spectacular threeday meeting gets underway this afternoon. Big Buck’s looks hard to oppose in the opener, but I won’t be backing him at around 1/4.
Instead, I’ll wait for SANCTUAIRE in the 2.35pm contest as he looked a little bit special at Cheltenham.
Imperial Commander is 8/11 with William Hill for the Totesport Bowl at 3.10pm, but I’d be a layer rather than a backer on Betdaq. He had a hard race in the Gold Cup and it may have left a few scars on a horse we know goes best fresh. NACARAT jumped brilliantly here last year when third over an inadequate trip and looks a cracking each-way bet at 9/2 with William Hill.
Finally, I will be having a few quid on SOMERSBY to land the 4.55pm contest, the Totepool Manifesto Novices’ Chase, at the expense of The Nightingale. The trip and ground are perfect for him and he can gain compensation for his narrow defeat in the Arkle.
