Spring seems to have finally arrived in London, and with the weather warming up, so too is selling season.
As Londoners consider the best way to sell their homes, insurance comparison website Gocompare Home Insurance has compiled a list that shows the top 20 features for UK home-buyers, including things like good broadband and more than two bathrooms.
According to the company’s latest home buyer survey, efficient central heating systems, double glazing and secure doors and windows top UK home-buyers’ lists of ‘must-have’ home features.

Good broadband and mobile signal strength have climbed the furthest on the list, along with a good energy efficiency rating.
Meanwhile, friendly neighbours and having a parking place have slipped down on the importance list for home buyers.
Ben Wilson, spokesperson for Gocompare Home Insurance, said: “Connectivity and energy efficiency are two massive factors for anyone thinking about a move at the moment, while the number of electrical sockets is now more important than access to local amenities.
“Likewise, a broadband signal fast enough for streaming, and a reliable and a clear mobile phone signal are deemed home essentials today and sellers need to be wise to these new priorities.”
Among the least important features considered by house buyers were a conservatory (19 per cent), wood floors (13 per cent), good local schools (13 per cent) and period features (5 per cent), all of which failed to make the top 20.
The survey was conducted online in March among 2,046 randomly selected British adults who are Maximiles UK panellists.
