Sir Bobby Robson's family 'overwhelmed' by tributes

THE family of Sir Bobby Robson have said they are &ldquo;humbled and overwhelmed&rdquo; by the public response to his death on Friday.<br /><br />The County Durham-born former England manager lost his long battle against cancer at the age of 76.<br /><br />Around 15,000 supporters have visited Newcastle&rsquo;s St James&rsquo; Park over the weekend to lay flowers, banners, shirts and scarves. <br /><br />Sir Bobby&rsquo;s widow, Lady Elsie Robson attended the shrine with her sons Andrew and David last night, stopping to read some of the thousands of messages and tributes to the legend.<br /><br />Similar tributes have also taken place at Sir Bobby&rsquo;s statue outside his other former club, Ipswich Town.<br /><br />A spokeswoman for the family said: &ldquo;The family is humbled and overwhelmed by the public response to his passing.&rdquo;
