The City A.M. 2011 Christmas appeal supported Opportunity International, a charity providing financial services (microloans, savings and insurance) and business training to over two million poor people in 21 developing countries. Opportunity gives its clients the chance to unlock their own potential and work their way out of poverty. Our appeal asked readers for donations to help Opportunity reach more poor people in southern Malawi. The UK Government matched all individual donations pound for pound, so that Opportunity International could double its impact.
