What’s the best job in the UK right now?
Careers website Glassdoor has put together the definitive ranking of UK employers, so you no longer have to wonder. And some of the entries may strike you as surprising dream jobs.
Sure, there may be more people dreaming of a future as a pop star or top footballer than becoming, say, an HR manager, but Glassdoor’s ranking is based on three criteria: the career opportunities, number of openings, and base salary.
In other words, these jobs are easy to get, pay well and have a decent chance of promotion. Sign us up.
Claiming the number one spot in the 2016 ranking is business development manager. With 5,143 job openings out there, an average base salary of £40,000 and a career opportunities rating of 3.5, this is the UK's best job.
The runner-up is finance manager, while the number three spot is claimed by operations manager.
Given the booming UK tech sector, you might expect tech jobs to be hot on the charts, but in fact, only two make make the ranking: software engineer and solutions architect.
Lawyers and mechanical and civil engineers, meanwhile, have fallen out of favour, with all three dropping out of the top 25.
