Tremlett desperate to secure England selection
ENGLAND bowler Chris Tremlett has made a desperate plea to be included in the starting line-up for the start of the fifth and final Ashes Test at the Oval tomorrow.
A back injury to seamer Tim Bresnan means England will be forced to make at least one change to their bowling attack, with 31-year-old Tremlett waiting in the wings alongside Steven Finn, plus uncapped duo Simon Kerrigan and Chris Woakes.
And Tremlett said: “I’m very hopeful. It’s been a long time coming and it’s been great to be back involved in the last two Test squads. I’ve had my injuries over the last couple of years and I’m dying to get an opportunity to play.”
Meanwhile, only Finn, Joe Root and Stuart Broad from the Test squad have been named in England’s 14-man party to play Australia in next week’s Twenty20 internationals.
