The INSIDER
It’s been a while since my last confession, but I’m back, just in time for the Cheltenham Festival. Is it really 12 months since the Prestbury Park roar welcomed the release of the starting tapes for the Supreme Novices’? Let’s hope we can again find the winner of the first and give ourselves a huge boost going into a four day war with the bookies.
I’m thoroughly looking forward to marking your card and even at this stage the Supreme Novices’ looks a real cracker. Cue Card will start favourite for the home team but it’s possible that the Irish might have a few aces up their sleeve, including So Young from the Willie Mullins yard. I’ve been keeping an eye on the market with Oddschecker.com and am slightly bemused by some of the price differences. Coral are as short as 10/1, while Victor Chandler are 20/1.
As such, this weekend is all about making sure you keep your ammunition dry, or add to it with some well struck bets. The race of the day is the Imperial Cup and it has paid to concentrate on those at the head of the market in recent years. David Pipe has the likely favourite ARRAYAN (5% win) and he has saddled the winner twice in the past four years.
The race does look very open with Via Galilei and The Betchworth Kid catching the eye but this quickly improving six-year-old makes plenty of appeal. Let’s hope his jockey doesn’t lose his irons again when coasting to an easy success!
