the INSIDER
LAST NINE days have definitely swelled the betting bank. As I write I’m looking to grow the balance even more. Some of the monies will be placed each way on the Australian superstar. No not that one, the other one, TAKEOVER TARGET. I will forgive him his below par effort in Japan last time out and expect him to pick up the leaders just inside the final furlong. Of course the opposition is very strong and a whole heap of top sprinters could win this valuable prize but I’m going to be against Paco Boy (lay for a place on Betdaq) and Scenic Blast (lay the win).
The handicaps at Newmarket have been very competitive this week and I’m hoping AL KHALEEJ can deliver the goods. He will be ridden by the Group One winning jockey Jim Crowley and is from the Ed Dunlop yard which has started to hit full steam since Royal Ascot. At 12/1 or better, this runner deserves a few pounds each way.
Lord Zenith was very impressive at Salisbury last time out and of course the form of his first run at Newbury couldn’t be better with most of the field coming out and winning or being placed in leading races. However, on a strict form line through Party Doctor I can’t see him beating either Big Audio or EMPEROR CLAUDIUS. Aidan O’Brien’s inmate was of course second in the Chesham at Royal Ascot behind Big Audio but I think the uphill finish at Newmarket will enable him to reverse the form.
