Shamed England hit rock bottom
SORRY England crashed out of the World Cup yesterday after suffering their heaviest-ever finals’ defeat to a rampant Germany in Bloemfontein.
Fabio Capello’s men were outclassed by the Germans on their way to a 4-1 defeat, but the game will be remembered for a moment of controversy when Frank Lampard’s shot cannoned off the underside of the crossbar and over the line, only for the referee to wave play on.
Defeat has now brought Capello’s reign under scrutiny, with the Italian admitting he will discuss his future with FA chiefs this week.
