Readers: we back the Tories
AN outright Conservative victory at the next general election would be best for the British economy, according to the inaugural poll of City A.M.’s readers.
Seventy-three per cent of panellists on the City A.M./PHI?Panel said the Tories were the best party to get the economy back on track.
Just ten per cent of respondents wanted the Labour party to emerge victorious at the election, which is likely to be held on 6 May.
But the worst outcome would be political stalemate with neither party winning an outright majority, the panel said.
Five per cent thought a hung parliament with the Tories as the largest party would be best for the economy, while four per cent wanted Labour to control a hung parliament.
•PoliticsHome, City A.M.’s polling partner, polled 496 readers by email, of which 358 responded.
