Our unique City panel wants Ken Clarke to be chancellor
FOR months now, people in the City have been telling us that they don’t rate George Osborne. But these findings from the City A.M./PHI Panel offer the first conclusive proof that the Square Mile would prefer someone else to run the economy. According to our panel, that man should be Ken Clarke, who held the office of chancellor between 1993 and 1997.
The results are terrible news for Labour: both Osborne, Clarke and Vince Cable are more popular than the Labour candidates put together.
•The City A.M./PHI Panel has been specially recruited to reflect the views of London’s financiers and business professionals. To apply to become a panelist, go to www.cityam.com/panel and register your details. PoliticsHome.com, City A.M.’s partner, interviewed 367 panelists by email yesterday.
