Joyce returns to Irish roots
CRICKET: Sussex opener Ed Joyce has turned his back on England to resume his international career with Ireland.
The 31-year-old Dubliner, who played 17 one-dayers for England under residency grounds, is requesting special dispensation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) to play for the Irish in the 2011 World Cup.
“While I believe I’m good enough to play Test cricket for England, I’ve decided taken the decision now to try and play for Ireland again,” Joyce said. “I’m a born and bred Irishman.”
