Eurozone breaks for Clegg, Cameron and Ed Miliband
“I am a great believer that politicians are human beings,” claimed David Cameron after the close of the Olympics, “and they need to have holidays.”
And so the PM fired the starting gun on a fortnight of mini-breaks for Westminster’s finest. Coalition partners Nick Clegg and Cameron are jetting off (separately) to Spain, while Labour’s Ed Miliband has plumped for Greece.
Bon voyage, gentlemen – but remember that it’s going to take more than some paella and a round of double ouzos to get Europe’s economy chugging again. Something Germany’s Angela Merkel, who returned from her summer jaunt to Austria yesterday, knows too well.
