Tendring has voted out with a large majority, as part of a wider trend of eurosceptic seats across the the Essex coast.
Clacton-on-Sea, where Ukip's only Westminster seat is, is part of the local area Tendring, voted to leave the EU with a majority of 69.5 per cent.
Colchester, Rochester, Thurrock and Castle Point also voted to leave with large majorities.
The areas were thought of as likely to back Leave.
However, they fall into part of a wider trend in which England outside of London is by-and-large backing Leave.
London is backing Remain strongly, but is struggling to keep up with gains made elsewhere by Leave, including in Wales.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are on track for strong Remain votes.
