Entrepreneurs flock to UK with surge in foreign-born directors
BRITAIN is open for business, with record numbers of foreign born entrepreneurs flocking to the UK to set up new companies, according to consultancy firm Procorre.
The new report, published today, identified India as the biggest source of UK-bound talent, with over 16,000 directors of British companies originating from the emerging superpower.
The subcontinent was also the home of the second largest contingent of foreign-born entrepreneurs, with just under 10,000 individuals of Pakistani origin listed as directors of small UK companies.
Closer to home, Germany provided the third largest number of directors (7,770) with Italy in fourth (7,624).
Procorre said government initiatives aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs from overseas to the UK were paying off. It highlighted the Entrepreneur Visa as an example of proactive policy.
