Cavendish wins stage amid headbutt row
BRITAIN’S Mark Cavendish sprinted to a third success in this year’s Tour de France ?– but only after a headbutt row which saw team-mate Mark Renshaw expelled from the race.
The HTC rider outsprinted Alessandro Petacchi to the line after Australian team-mate Renshaw butted leadout rival Julian Dean in the run-in to create the ideal line for him to hit the front.
Technical director Jean-Francois Pescheux said: “This is cycling, not fighting. Everybody could have ended up on their backs.”
