Woods pulls out of own event
GOLF: Tiger Woods yesterday withdrew from his own tournament following the affects of his car accident last Friday.
The world No1 pulled out of the Chevron World Challenge – a tournament he has hosted for the past nine years – after sustaining facial injuries when his car struck a fire hydrant and tree near his Florida home.
“I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,” Woods said: “ I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I’m very sorry that I can’t be there.”
The World Challenge starts on Thursday at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California and, this year, has attracted 12 of the world’s top 20 players.
