Woods pulls out of own event

GOLF: Tiger Woods yesterday withdrew from his own tournament following the affects of his car accident last Friday.<br /> <br /> The world No1 pulled out of the Chevron World Challenge &ndash; a tournament he has hosted for the past nine years &ndash; after sustaining facial injuries when his car struck a fire hydrant and tree near his Florida home.<br /> <br /> &ldquo;I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week,&rdquo; Woods said: &ldquo; I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I&rsquo;m very sorry that I can&rsquo;t be there.&rdquo;<br /> <br /> The World Challenge starts on Thursday at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California and, this year, has attracted 12 of the world&rsquo;s top 20 players.
