Hot on the heels of London Bridge being turned into a massive rainbow, Spark Your City - which is planning a series of random installations around the capital - has set about its second project: turning Sutton Walk, a pedestrian tunnel which links Waterloo and the South Bank, into a giant, jungle-themed kaleidscope.

The project is the brainchild of former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton, who said that it's "easy to run around town looking at our phones or our feet, but if we look up and around there is so much that can excite and inspire us".

"A lot of energy and enthusiasm is put into encouraging us to explore the 'great outdoors', but that doesn't just mean green spaces."

Commuters - who faced an otherwise drizzle-soaked walk to work - tweeted their pleasure:

Gwenda van Vliet, global marketing director of Kipling, which is behind the scheme, said the project was inspired by "creative women" who will "transform the city into a brighter place".
