Westminster house prices soar
Westminster housing is the most expensive in the UK per square metre, and prices there have nearly doubled over the last 10 years, data from Halifax revealed yesterday. Housing in Westminster costs £7,586 per metre squared, the data showed, up 81 per cent over the past 10 years. This made it more than twice as expensive as the second town on the list, St. Albans, and more than three times as expensive as third placed Oxford. Winchester, Chichester, Cambridge, Brighton, Bath, Edinburgh and Salisbury made up the rest of the top 10 places. The cheapest housing was available in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, for just £817 per metre squared. Meanwhile the cheapest English housing was available in Hull.
