Twitter most popular among African American internet users
TWITTER has increased its reach in the US by five per cent of internet users in six months, according to data released by the Pew Research Centre.
The site is now used by 13 per cent of Americans who are online, versus eight per cent in November last year.
The gap between usage among whites and non-whites has also increased, the research found, with a quarter of African American internet users visiting the site versus 19 per cent of Latinos and just nine per cent of whites.
The site’s reach among 25-34-year olds has also increased, rising from nine to 19 per cent of online Americans – more than its usage among 18-24-year olds, 18 per cent of whom now use Twitter.
The research surveyed 2,277 adult internet users.
