Tinder sues threesome-app rival 3nder for stealing its thunder
Dating app Tinder, which is in no mood of being tender with rivals, has launched a legal battle against threesome-app 3nder alleging trademark infringement.
Tinder, which is owned by online dating behemoth Match, wants its smaller competitor to shut down over the similarity in name.
3nder hit back at Tinder through Tinder Sucks My Socks, a social media campaign encouraging users to tweet pictures of their socks at Tinder using the hashtag #TinderSuckMySocks.
Dimo Trifonov, founder of 3nder, argued that his business is different from that of Tinder and that “no one should have a monopoly on love".
In a statement, he said: “Our mission and our values could not be more distinct from those of Tinder. We have and always will put ethics and aesthetics first. Our members seek something else entirely when they come to us – to explore their sexual curiosity and date in an open-minded space.
"With so many sexualities and relationship structures left out of Tinder and the Match Group offerings, there is room for all of us. No one should have a monopoly on love.”
