Home secretary Theresa May will today give an emergency statement on the UK Border Agency, following claims it had secretly relaxed checks on passport control. Brodie Clark, head of the border force has been suspended over the allegations. Investigations are also being held into whether port operators, including BAA which runs most of the UK’s major airports, were involved in the decision because they wanted to avoid queues.
