the INSIDER
The forecast for today looks fine, but I’m hoping that RAINFALL (3%) pours it on in the Jersey Stakes this afternoon. Mark Johnston has champion jockey Ryan Moore booked to ride this son of Oasis Dream and he can show a clean pair of heels to Red Jazz and Shakespearean.
I will hopefully be quaffing champagne today, but I’ll be switching drinks for the Windsor Forest Stakes and opting for STRAWBERRYDAIQUIRI (7%). This daughter of Dansili is still improving and she can improve Sir Michael Stoute’s already tremendous Royal Ascot record.
I’m not sure about the draw for the Royal Hunt Cup – if the high numbers look to have an advantage, then I’m strongly of the opinion that Hayley Turner can give trainer John Hammond another big race win in the UK with TRYST (4% e/w). If you need to be drawn low or in the centre, then I think the horse to have a saver on is MULL OF KILLOUGH (1% e/w).
MEOW (5%) looks to have an outstanding chance of taking the Queen Mary. Maqaasid looks the chief danger and I expect Primo Lady to boil over in the preliminaries.
