the INSIDER
Alan King hasn’t been in the best of form but the last few days he has seen a healthy return to the winner’s enclosure. When a stable of immense power and strength starts to hit form it is probably best to follow it, so my advice is to keep Barbury Castle runners on side.
AWESOME GEORGE might not be awesome but he is decent. With good claimer Charlie Huxley taking off a useful three pounds he should have the beating of the other six runners in the Beginners’ Chase on today’s Ascot card (1.30pm). Unfortunately I’ve backed MANYRIVERSTOCROSS on three of the five occasions when Jamie Spencer has ridden him on the flat, but I wish I had waited for Chocolate Thornton and hurdles. With Choc in the saddle, I will definitely be backing him again in the 2.05pm at Ascot.
Evan Williams is another trainer in form and I’m going to be having a few pounds on his runner ASHFIELD’S DREAM in the novice hurdle at 12.55pm from Ascot.
Peter Chapple Hyam hasn’t had that many runners since the end of the flat season so it’s a surprise to see him running LIGHT SLEEPER in the 5.50pm at Wolverhampton today. Hopefully this Kyllachy colt will come back from a couple of months off a lot stronger and be hard to beat.
