Spurs prepare to lighten midfield load by three
TOTTENHAM have accepted a £2m bid from Championship club Queens Park Rangers for tough-tackling midfielder Scott Parker, while Tom Huddlestone and Jake Livermore have emerged as targets of Hull.
Parker moved to north London in August 2011 and made 50 Premier League appearances for Spurs, also winning the club’s Player of the Season award during his first year at White Hart Lane.
The 32-year-old is expected to finalise personal terms today on a move that sees him join up with former manager Harry Redknapp and could make his debut against Ipswich at Loftus Road on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Hull are believed to have agreed a club record fee in excess of £5m for Huddlestone and the Tigers are also keen on taking fellow midfielder Livermore on loan.
Elsewhere, West Ham have completed the signing of winger Stewart Downing for £6m from Liverpool.
The 29-year-old has signed a four-year deal and hopes he can make his debut against newly-promoted Cardiff at Upton Park on Saturday.
“I’m ready and I’m fit for the first game,” he said. “I’ve played a few games for Liverpool in pre-season, so there will be no problems.”
