Sports Direct eyes Cotswold
SPORTS Direct has joined the bidding for Cotswold Outdoor, as Mike Ashley’s high street retailer looks to the great outdoors again following its unsuccessful bid Blacks Leisure two years ago.
The firm is understood to have lodged a bid for Cotswold’s parent company AS Adventure, which owner Lion Capital has put up for sale with a £300m price tag.
Sports Direct lost out on Blacks to rival JD Sports, and at the time it blamed Blacks’ suppliers.
Sports Direct declined to comment on the bid, first reported by the Financial Times. Clayton Dubilier & Rice is also thought to have submitted a formal bid for Cotswold.
