Ospreys face ‘extra man’ hearing
RUGBY UNION: Leicester will discover tomorrow if their bid to be reinstated into the Heineken Cup is successful.
The Tigers lodged a complaint to European Rugby Cup officials after Ospreys full-back Lee Byrne come on as a 16th man in their 17-12 victory last Saturday.
The Ospreys have been called to attend a disciplinary hearing with both the club and Byrne facing misconduct charges.
Thornton eyes swift return
RACING: Jump jockey Robert Thornton expects to return to the saddle within the next 10 days after escaping with a minor back injury following a fall at Leicester on Tuesday.
Thornton was said to be in a ‘stable’ condition but was sent home yesterday following further tests.
Meanwhile, Epsom trainer Terry Mills, died yesterday at the age of 71 after a long battle with cancer.
