Wolves spoil Martinez homecoming
FOOTBALL: A header from Andy Keogh gave newly-promoted Wolves a 1-0 victory at Wigan and their first away win in 30 Premier League matches.
The Republic of Ireland forward nodded in off the post in the sixth minute to spoil Roberto Martinez’s first home game in charge since returning to the Latics as manager in the summer.
Duff quits Magpies for Fulham
FOOTBALL: Fulham yesterday completed the £4m signing of winger Damien Duff from Newcastle. The Republic of Ireland star, 30, has signed a three-year deal at Craven Cottage and becomes the eighth player to leave Newcastle since they were relegated from the top flight in May.
Crusaders six get deportation order
RUGBY LEAGUE: Six players from the Super League’s bottom club Celtic Crusaders are to be deported for breaking visa regulations.
Captain Jace van Dijk and fellow Australians Tony Duggan, Damien Quinn, Josh Hannay, Darren Mapp and Marke Dalle-Court have been asked to leave Britain.
