GOLF: Britain and Ireland took a slender 3-2 lead over Europe on the first day of the Vivendi Trophy in Paris.
Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy starred by winning 4&3 on the opening day of fourballs at the St-Nom-la-Breteche course.
McIlroy said:“As long as we stay fit there’s no reason why we can’t have a partnership for 10 years.”
SA hit back to crush NZ
CRICKET: Batsman AB de Villiers shone as South Africa’s Champions Trophy pursuit got back on track with a five-wicket win over New Zealand in Centurion.
After losing the tournament’s opener against Sri Lanka they bowled the Kiwis out for 214 in the 48th over before reaching their target with 53 balls remaining.
Seamer Wayne Parnell 5-57 helped keep the Kiwis below 300 prior to De Villiers’ sparkling unbeaten 70.
