Spanish ambassador called over Gibraltar
THE SPANISH ambassador to the United Kingdom has been summoned to the Foreign Office over a “serious incursion” into British territorial waters around Gibraltar, adding to a list of recent tensions.
Europe minister David Lidington said that a research vessel, the RV Ramon Margalef, had undertaken surveying activity for over 20 hours in the UK’s territorial waters, ignoring challenges by radio. He added: “We stand ready to do whatever is required to protect Gibraltar’s sovereignty.”
