Robinson fumes at ref Owens
SCOTLAND (18) vs IRELAND (21)
SCOTLAND head coach Andy Robinson slammed referee Nigel Owens as his side suffered a 21-18 defeat to Ireland in an error-strewn RBS 6 Nations contest at Murrayfield.
Converted tries from Jamie Heaslip, Eoin Redden and Ronan O’Gara put the visitors in charge and, despite the kicking of Scott Paterson and Dan Parks, Ireland held on to secure the win.
The sin binning of Allan Jacobsen early in the second half dented Scottish efforts, and Robinson called it “a major turning point”. “We were just about to get on top of the Irish and to lose a player like that is pretty hard to come back from,” he added.
Robinson talked about Ireland’s high penalty count that produced no sin-bins and said: “I want to know why he [Owens] made those calls.”
The result leaves Scotland without a win in three games ahead of a trip to Twickenham on March 13.
