Reforms needed to add SME jobs
THE CBI today urged the government to tackle employment laws that prevent smaller businesses from creating jobs, highlighting the role they can play in compensating for public sector employment cuts.
The business lobbying group said 60 per cent of small businesses cited obstructive employment laws as the biggest barrier to job creation.
SME’s in the UK currently employ 13.6m people, employing a larger-than-average proportion of the private sector workforce in areas where the public sector accounts for a larger share of the regional economy.
