I’M going to be busy this afternoon with six rides and we kick off with the Neptune Novices’ Hurdle (1.30). I’m looking forward to riding OUTLANDER, it’s a wide open race, but the trip will suit and he did really well at Leopardstown last time.
DON POLI goes for the RSA Chase (2.05) and we’re hopeful of a big run. Even though Coneygree hasn’t been declared it’s still a competitive race and the stronger they go the more it will suit my lad.
He won at the meeting last year and the trip definitely won’t be a problem.
UN ATOUT was well fancied for the Supreme Novices’ a couple of years ago and he’s had his wind done since he last ran in December. His form would be up there with the best in the race, he’ll like the ground and he should have a good chance.
It’s a big step up for SAVELLO in the Champion Chase (3.20) and we’re hoping he might pick up a bit of prize money. He won the Grand Annual last year and being a course and distance winner always helps here.
THUNDER ZONE would really appreciate some rain in the Fred Winter (4.40). He needs to brush up on his jumping, but he has an each-way chance.
I had a hard decision to make in the Bumper (5.15) between GENERAL PRINCIPLE and Stone Hard, but I decided to go with Gordon’s [Elliott] in the end. There really isn’t much between them but General Principle was really impressive at Punchestown last time.
