QPR on the slide after last gasp Brown strike
QPR 2 vs SUNDERLAND 3
QPR slipped closer to the relegation zone last night after Wes Brown’s 89th minute goal helped Sunderland’s recovery under new manager Martin O’Neill gather pace.
Rangers had made an encouraging start to life back in the top flight after a 15-year absence, but they have now gone six games without a win and sit just two points and two places above the relegation zone.
Sunderland, who have now won two of the three games former Villa boss O’Neill has taken charge of, took the lead in the 19th minute when on-loan Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner headed in from Kieran Richardson’s corner for his third of the season.
The visitors had to wait until the 53rd minute to double their advantage through Stephane Sessegnon, but within 15 frantic minutes Neil Warnock’s side were level.
First, Heidar Helguson prodded home from close-range just past the hour mark and four minutes later Jamie Mackie’s diving header restored parity. But with time running out Rangers threw away what would have been a valuable point by allowing Brown to glance home another Richardson corner.
