Polo in the Park to draw in the City crowd
London’s summer social season will soon kick off in earnest when businesses leave the City to come out to support Chestertons Polo in the Park over the weekend starting 5 June.
Now in its sixth year, the event, which takes place in Fulham, has become as much about networking as it has about the men on horseback. Sponsors will be there to do a spot of divot stomping with clients over a cocktail from the Mahiki bar before hitting Lanson’s champagne garden.
Teams from six cities are taking part, including Hong Kong, sponsored by the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, and last year’s winner Abu Dhabi, which is sponsored by City A.M. for the second year in a row.
The Abu Dhabi team’s patron is Mohammed Al Habtoor, chief executive of UAE construction conglomerate Al Habtoor Group, who will take to the saddle alongside professionals Guillermo Cuitino and Juan Cruz Guevara to defend the team’s title.
Visitors will also be able to witness a historic moment on the Friday when England and South America face each other in the first international match to be played at Hurlingham Park, the event’s venue, since 1939. www.polointheparklondon.com
