IN ASSOCIATION with Repskan.com, City A.M. is measuring the relative Olympic media buzz around the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games partners, week by week. The leaderboard, right, reflects their ranking over the past week, in this case from Wednesday 17 May to Wednesday 24 May.
As the Olympic Flame took flight on board the gold-painted British Airways Flight 2012, so the carrier itself flew up our rankings. The mention of BA’s name in conjunction with the start of the Torch Relay gave the company a lot of visibility. The Flame was lit in Greece on 10 May, and was handed over to the British delegation in Athens. It was flown to Britain on board a BA plane, renamed The Firefly for the occasion, accompanied by David Beckham and Princess Anne. The Torch will be carried across the British Isles by 8,000 chosen volunteers, mostly local heroes. In total, it will pass through 1,019 cities, towns and villages.
