New book reveals the City by night
WORKING in the City, our lives are often stressful and fast-moving. It is easy when you are rushing from meeting to meeting to forget that the Square Mile is also one of the most striking places in the world. From the Victorian banks to the modern sky-scrapers, the centuries have left their imprint on the area.
A new book by German photographer Andreas Schmidt, featuring 100 photographs of the City at night, aims to capture the beauty and the ugliness of the area; the haunting empty streets and the electric lights burning in the empty buildings. This is a selection of his work.
