Morgan taken aback by Test chance
TWENTY20 world-beater Eoin Morgan has admitted his shock at being called up to England’s Test squad, but does not believe he will have trouble reproducing his one-day heroics in the longer form of the game.
Morgan’s inclusion in a 12-man squad for the two-match series against Bangladesh, starting tomorrow at Lord’s, is a reward for his dazzling performances in England’s triumphant World Twenty20 campaign earlier this month.
“It did surprise me to get that phone call,” said the 23-year-old, referring to his call-up on at the weekend.
“The last six months I’ve been part of a very successful England team, which has been great. And my individual game has come quite a long way in that time, and improved quite a lot.
“I’m going to continue to play the way I do in the long form of the game, which is quite simple.
“It’s not a case of taking everything to the bowlers as it has been the last six months.
“But, again, I’m going to be looking forward to it and hopefully I can make an impact.”
